Write for Us

Scanlines reviews new games for retro platforms — and we pay people who know and love this scene to do it. If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.

The gig

• $200 per review, flat.
• Play a new retro game and write an honest review of around 1,000–1,400 words.
• Capture a few screenshots and clips, publish it in our CMS, and share it with the community.
• Usually about a week and a half from assignment to first draft.

What we're after

People who genuinely know and love retro games, write clearly and honestly, and are active in the communities where these games live. You keep your own voice — what stays constant is the standard: honest, specific, and fair. Reviews are independent: a flat fee, never paid for a positive score. (More on how we review.)
